Access Control Software Reader Setup
Access Control Software Reader Setup explains how to connect compatible Fresh USA readers to the Windows management platform after software installation and database configuration are complete. For the official installer and license page, use Access Control Software Download.
Access Control Software Reader Setup: TCP/IP or RS232
Fresh USA readers can connect to the software through TCP/IP Ethernet or COM / RS232, depending on the reader model and project design. Select the communication method that matches the installed hardware.
- TCP/IP: enter the reader IP address and port configured for that device.
- COM / RS232: select the correct Windows COM port and verify the serial driver and baud-rate settings.
- Each network reader must use a unique IP address and port.
- The PC and reader must be on compatible network subnets during commissioning.
Select the Correct Fresh USA Reader Type
Reader model selection is important because different Fresh USA readers use different firmware families and software tabs. Use the model selection that matches the installed hardware:
| Fresh USA reader | Software reader type |
|---|---|
| F-920 / F-930 | DL920 |
| F-950 | DL950 |
| F-6950 | DL6950 |
| F-02 desktop encoder | USB |
| F-9700 | DL9700 |
Reader Connection Procedure
- Open Settings > Connect to reader.
- Enter a clear reader name such as Main Entrance, Exit Gate, Warehouse Door or Garage Entry.
- Select the correct reader model / firmware tab.
- Choose Using TCP/IP or Using COM port.
- For TCP/IP, enter the configured IP address and port. For serial connection, select the correct COM port.
- Set the polling or read interval required for the project.
- Assign the reader to the correct operating function, such as input, output, binding, anti-theft or another supported mode.
- Save the settings and confirm that the reader status shows a successful connection.
Network Setup and Troubleshooting
For TCP/IP systems, first confirm that the reader communicates with its dedicated configuration utility. If the software cannot connect, check the subnet, IP address, port, reader model selection and Ethernet cabling. For RS232 / COM, confirm the Windows COM port, USB-to-serial driver, baud rate, TX/RX wiring and common ground where applicable.
For PoE F-910 / F-920 / F-930 commissioning and exact IP/port setup steps, use the RFID Reader IP & Port Configuration Guide.
Software-Managed Access Points
Once connected, readers can be assigned to entrances, exits, gates, doors or other controlled points. The software can register people, vehicles and credentials, apply permissions and schedules, record entry and exit events, maintain current-inside information and export history when required.
Before Final Commissioning
Test each reader with an authorized and unauthorized credential, verify that the correct access point is recorded in the software, and confirm that the connected gate or controller reacts only when access is authorized. Document the final IP address, port, reader name and installed location.
